Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes and the Sahara in six days
A blend of adventure and cultural discovery: the blue city of Chefchaouen, the historic wonders of Fes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the Sahara Desert with its camel rides and luxury desert camps, ending in vibrant Marrakech.
Pick-up in Tangier and drive across the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Afternoon in the blue medina.
Leave the Rif Mountains and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis with a local guide, then explore the imperial city of Meknes (Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail) before arriving in Fes.
A full day with a local guide in Fes el-Bali, the world's largest car-free medina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: its madrasas, the Chouara tanneries, the artisan souks and the Royal Palace gates.
South through the cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, lunch near Midelt, the Ziz Valley and arrival in Merzouga for a sunset camel ride and a night in a desert camp.
Sunrise over the dunes, then Erfoud and the Todra Gorge, before continuing along the road of the Kasbahs to the Dades Valley for the night.
Leave the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Morocco", and visit the Taourirt Kasbah. Continue to the UNESCO-listed fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, then cross the Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass and arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
