Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis, Fes and Chefchaouen – then back to Tangier
An authentic Moroccan experience from Tangier (or from Spain): the imperial cities of Rabat, Meknes and Fes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the blue city of Chefchaouen, ending in the mysterious city of Tangier.
Meet & greet at Tangier port or pick-up in the city, then Asilah for a stroll through its painted streets. Continue to Rabat, the administrative capital: the Kasbah of the Oudayas (12th century) with views over the Bou Regreg river, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower and the Chellah Necropolis, before your first night.
A morning in Rabat, then east to Meknes, the 17th-century capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail: Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square and the Granaries & Stables. Continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis for a guided walk among the mosaics, and reach Fes in the evening.
A full day with a local guide in Fes el-Bali, the world's largest car-free medina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: its madrasas, the Chouara tanneries, the artisan souks and the Royal Palace gates.
Drive north through the Rif foothills to the blue city of Chefchaouen and enjoy the rest of the day in its alleys.
Last morning in Chefchaouen, then on to Tangier for a final exploration of the city before the end of the tour.
